A Woman in Power

Today was an easy day in my nanny life. These days don't come around too often! I am currently in one of my favorite coffee shops enjoying a yummy vanilla latte before a late night workout across the street. Vienna, this little town, is so quaint and cozy. I love spending my free time here!

While sitting here listening to Good Old War, Matt and Kim, along with other various artists, I began to think about my day yesterday and I decided I wanted to share my thoughts with all of you here on my blog.

While at CMU, I was a member of a club called Organization of Women Leaders (OWLS) and it was a group of women who were in leadership positions and women who are inspiring and just incredible! At each meeting, we would discuss issues within society, specifically relating to women, and it was just a time where powerful women got together and discussed anything and everything. Little did I know that I would soon be working for a woman who is the CEO of a successful company that she has built from the ground up.

Yesterday, I took the kiddos to visit their parents at work, and the second I stepped into their mum's office, it truly opened my eyes to who she is outside of the house, what she has accomplished, and how amazing she is. Looking around the office, I saw pictures, magazine covers, and newspaper articles recognizing her and all of her accomplishments. At 41, she has done so much and she isn't even close to being done! She has created and managed one of the fastest growing independent companies in the United States! Business Journal has published articles, along with other similar journals.

This took me back to OWLS and made me reflect on my future goals. I'm so blessed to live and work for a woman that is and will continue to be a role model and an inspiration.

Women are leaders. Women are successful. Women have brilliant ideas. Women can inspire and make dreams a reality. Women have positions of power. Women are capable of anything. Women are fearless. We are all equal.

Recommended Workout Tunes

Lately, I've downloaded a few songs that have helped me keep up my momentum at the gym! I wanted to share them with you all. I don't know about you, but when I am doing cardio, I need upbeat, fast, bass pumping music. When I am lifting, I usually listen to calmer, yet still upbeat music.

1) It's Alright - Matt & Kim
2) Carried Away - Passion Pit
3) I'll Be Alright - Passion Pit
4) Feel This Moment - Pitbull ft. Christina Aguilera
5) Sunlight - Harlem Shakes
6) Gone, Gone, Gone - Phillip Phillips
7) Tonight I'm Getting Over You - Carly Rae Jepsen
8) Don't You Worry Child - Swedish House Mafia
9) Catch My Breath - Kelly Clarkson
10) This Kiss - Carly Rae Jepsen
11) Put Your Hands Up - Matchbox Twenty
12) Bruises - Train ft. Ashley Monroe
13) Alive - Krewella
14) Daylight - Maroon 5
15) Heavy Feet - Local Natives

Enjoy!

Yummyness!

Diet plays such a large part in whether or not one sees results after weeks of consistent exercise.
Luckily, in your 20's, it's okay to have a cheat day or have chocolate every once in a while :)

Here are a few of my favorite pre or post workout snacks:

Panera Bread Iced Green Tea: 130 calories and only $2.49! Refreshing drink and filled with antioxidants.
Cliff Bars: Basically, a meal replacement. I do not eat these often, but when they are on sale I stock up and have one every other day. They come in many tasty flavors :)

Vegetables!!!! Broccoli, Corn, Red Peppers, Carrots, and Peas cooked in a little bit of olive oil. Look at how colorful it is. Add baked chicken breasts on the side and you're set!

Cut organic apple and plain Quaker Oats oatmeal is one of my favorite pre workout breakfasts. It's light and filling. Sometimes I add Kiwi to the bowl too. Yum!

This morning, I made this bowl of Sugar Free Maple and Brown Sugar Oatmeal mixed with organic unsalted peanut butter, and a banana! Organic unsalted peanut butter is basically crushed up peanuts. It's much healthier than regular peanut butter, and in my opinion, tastes better. I've been trying to stay away from cereal because of the high sugar content, but Original Go Lean is a great fiber and protein substitute.

I'm still experimenting and trying new combinations, but I will try to keep sharing what I find!
